• Aims
    The overall aims of the English Language Curriculum are:
    • To provide every learner of a second language with further opportunities for extending their knowledge and experience of the cultures of other people as well as opportunities for personal and intellectual development, further studies, pleasure and work in the English medium; and
    • To enable every learner to prepare for the changing socio-economic demands resulting from advances in information technology; these demands include the interpretation, use and production of materials for pleasure, study and work in the English medium.
  • Characteristics
    The characteristics of our school-based curriculum are:
    • Adopting Intergrated English Language Program(IELP) in KS1 and Learning to Learn English Language Program(LLELP) in KS 2;
    • Emphasizing on “Learning to Read and Reading to Learn”, Language teaching and Writing process;
    • Integrating 4 skills in English lessons;
    • Implementing Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Schem;
    • Implementing an interactive reading and phonics programme (KS1);
    • Learning from their life experience;
    • Working with other institutions to widen students’ learning experience, like “Professor Paws” English Language Activity, Learn English through playing golf and etc;
    • Providing an authentic English environment, like English Speaking Day, English Week, English Morning Assembly and etc;
    • Providing a language rich environment, including English Room, display boards, etc;
    • organizing a variety of enrichment and intervention programs;
    • advocating cross-curricular learning;
    • adopting interactive task-based learning through mini-dramas, songs and rhymes, etc.
